Literature Text

"My god…the things you’re going to do. Because you’re going to do things. Horrible things. Terrible, awful, ugly things. Things that hurt people. Things that bring pain and misery and suffering. And you’ll meet monsters. Not just scary things that go bump in the night, but miserable creatures; ones who will drive you to do those terrible, awful, ugly things.
"The one thing you have to do, at any and all costs, you have to learn to forgive. Learn to forgive the monsters, or I swear you’ll lose yourself. You’ll fall so far into that black void and it will swallow you. And the one monster you have to forgive most, the only one, you'll realize, truly capable of making you do those terrible things and go to those awful places, is yourself.
"Find solace in the fact that the things you did you did without compromising yourself; it will certainly feel that way, like you'll never be able to call yourself Doctor again. But every ounce of pain, every iota of misery and suffering, was done to prevent so much worse. Because that is who you are. The one who has to make those tough choices so others don’t have to; the one who puts himself on the line, in body and soul and ideals, so the rest of the Universe can sleep soundly, knowing that tomorrow will still be there and that it will be worth waking up to.
"So please, Doctor, you must forgive yourself. Because you have no idea what's ahead of you. Withstand the pain, learn to weather the Oncoming Storm, and I promise you'll find a life full of so much love and joy and hope, with wonderful people and beautiful moments around every corner. And baby, you better believe that's worth all the hell! So endure, Doctor, and I guarantee you things will be so... fantastic."
The climax of a fanfic idea that never materialized. It mostly revolved around this speech, though, so I suppose this is fine xD

A couple notes. First, I came up with this long before anything regarding the 50th Anniversary came out, so it was written with the view that the 8th Doctor fought in the Time War, and then regenerated into the 9th Doctor. Sorry John Hurt =P

The setup for this story is that 11, completely by chance, meets his 8th incarnation, and after talking for a short time, realizes he has yet to encounter the Time War. This dismays 11, as he knows all of the Doctor's worst moments are still ahead of him. He decides he doesn't want to talk to 8 anymore, and abandons him in his own Tardis in the Time Vortex. After sulking for a while, he finds a Hypercube stashed in the Tardis and records this message. He throws the cube into the Time Vortex, waiting hopefully to feel the change in his timeline(like in A Christmas Carol).

He threw the cube out the Tardis doors, held out his arms and closed his eyes. Minutes pass. Nothing. He opens one eye first, then the other. He puts his arms down as he slowly realizes the change isn't coming, and it broke both his hearts all over again.

As always, I love feedback(even the negative stuff; no way I can grow if I don't know what I'm doing wrong) and questions, whether they're about the writing process, or an aspect of the show or just about me. So let me have it all!
