"Have you ever run away from something because you were scared, or not ready, or just... just because you could?"
"Once. A long time ago."
This is it everyone, the pièce de résistance of my parody writing binge, and I think I saved the best for last(entirely debatable though). Yes, I know this song has been covered and parodied to death(Doug Walker please don't be mad! xD), but I had the idea, which means I had to roll with it.
I think there's something beautiful and haunting about the Doctor leaving Gallifrey. Yes, later episodes retconned his reason for leaving, but I maintain that deep down, at the core of it, Gallifrey in all it's infinite magnitude, was just too small for the Doctor. He couldn't stay even if he wanted to. That's the leg that this song stands on. As always, I love feedback(even the negative stuff; no way I can grow if I don't know what I'm doing wrong) and questions, whether they're about the writing process, or an aspect of the show or just about me. So let me have it all!
As per usual, I recommend putting the original on in the background as you sing this to yourself. Put yourself in the moment.
